diamond racing

The home of 2020 Premiership trainer Robert Dunn. Now training in partnership with Jenna Dunn. With over 1850 winners to his name Robert, or RJ as he is better known, has been linked to some of New Zealand’s best horses. The list includes Mainland Banner, Master Musician, Classie Brigade and Sundees Son. In 2019 Robert trained his 1500th winner in style by taking out the Kaikoura Cup with Classie Brigade to put him on 1499 wins and then training the trifecta in the very next race with Heisenberg, Stars Tonight and Franco Niven. In 2020 Robert won the trainers premiership after training 95 winners in what was an interrupted season. Since moving his primary training base to Woodend beach in 2014 Robert has consistently trained over 100 winners each season and is on track to do so again in the 2021 season.

Diamond Racing’s owners are also a key ingredient to our success and making sure they have regular updates and the opportunity to see their horses training is something RJ is very passionate about. For the past three years we have been using miStable to send regular photo and video updates to our owners. This includes horses being worked on the beach, as well as post-race updates from RJ, John and our team of drivers for those owners who can’t be there, including on trials and workouts days. RJ has an open door policy and our owners are always welcome to come out and see their horses at any time.
